Shattering Ice Ball - play animation

This was built during my internship with ReelFX for a Wrigley's television commercial. I watched some slow motion footage of glass balls breaking on a floor to get an Idea of where the cracks would form on the ball. Then I specified the likely points of fracture and broke the surface into pieces. An expression was used in the "active" attribute of each rigid body node that activated the dynamic properties of the pieces as their centroids moved below .1 in the Y axis. Until they became active, the fragments were linked to a proxy sphere that fell through the ground and was not visible in the render.
